Whatever the issue Bourne Chemical Compliance can provide a cost and time effective solution

Navigating chemical regulation can be challenging

UK Chemical regulations are currently based on the EU regulations that were in place prior to the UK exiting the EU.  Some transitional measures are in place, but the differences between the UK and EU are increasing.

Services

REACH

Most industrial and household chemicals are subject to the REACH regulation.  This Registers, Evaluates, Authorises and Restricts Chemicals (REACH) on the market.

The REACH regulation was introduced in 2006 and has changed the chemical market in the EU.  Many of the more hazardous chemicals which had been on the market for some years were removed for safer alternatives.

Companies with new chemicals need to understand the complexities of the testing and registration system as well as potential restrictions.

Companies selling or purchasing chemicals which have already been registered under REACH need to understand the way that the joint registration system works.

CLP

All substances and mixtures are subject to the Classification, Labelling and Packaging (CLP) Regulation. This measures the hazard of each substance and mixture based on standardised criteria and harmonised testing methods.

It is necessary to have a good understanding of both the criteria and the testing that has been performed to classify and label substances and products with confidence.

BPR

Substances and products for the control of hazardous organisms such as cleaners, attractants, repellents and some poisons are regulated under the Biocidal Products Regulation (BPR).

This is a complex regulation evaluating both efficacy of the active substance and product as well the danger it poses to humans and the environment.

Expert knowledge to save you time and money

With 18 years experience of the chemical regulatory world I offer insight and expertise that many other consultancies charge a premium for.  Due to my set up I can work to very tight timelines when speed and accuracy are both paramount.

Registration services

All companies who wish to place a substance onto the UK or EU market at 1 tonne or more per year must register the substance.  The type of registration must be correct as enforcement is becoming ever more vigilant.  The specialist knowledge and software require to submit a registration can dissuade many companies from preparing the registration themselves.

Only Representative services

Companies located outside the UK or EU and looking to supply these areas will require an Only Representative (OR) should they not have a legal entity of their own.  While an importer can hold a registration for an outside company this means that the importer can then purchase the same substance from any supplier, not just the supplier who paid for the registration.

Classification and labeling services

All substances and mixtures placed on the market must be classified and labelled correctly.

With specialist knowledge I undertake label reviews, assess substances and evaluate Safety Data Sheets (SDS/mSDS).
